Magnetic Resonance Elastography Laboratory

Welcome to The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center. Directed by Dr. Arunark Kolipaka, our lab aims to develop novel imaging technologies to achieve early diagnosis, advance understanding of disease patterns, and aid in disease management.

A primary research area in our group is developing novel cardiovascular imaging techniques using MRI. Active research focuses on developing MR Elastography (MRE). MRE is a noninvasive novel MR imaging technique to estimate stiffness of soft tissues. In MRE, external source of vibrations are induced in the area of interest. These vibrations are then tracked using MRI scanner. Finally, the propagating wave images are then mathematically processed to obtain stiffness maps known as inversions.

Our group focuses on pulse sequence development, drivers for external vibrations and inversions for different applications. This lab is being supported by NIH grants and society grant such as AHA, SIR, and State of Ohio.
