Recognition:

Mirror Lake in the AutumnIn 2004, US News & World Report ranked OSU College of Medicine and Public Health as 37th out of 146 medical schools in the United States. It is ranked 14th among all public medical schools.

Annually recognized among the nation's best, The OSU Medical Center's five acute-care hospitals and primary care network attract patients from Ohio and around the world. Each year, the Medical Center accomodates 800,000 outpatient visits and provides $20 million in care to patients with financial need.

We are a leading center of research worldwide in MRI technology. We house an 8 Tesla human-use MRI that was the largest in the world for many years. We've recently acquired Philips 7 Tesla and 3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems housed in our new Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical Imaging.

Our radiology facilities continue to expand with cutting edge technology. Among our equipment is a Siemens Biograph 16 PET/CT scanner which allows doctors to quickly see the results of cancer treatment and adjust accordingly.

In the 2004 survey of Best Doctors in America, 75 percent of the central Ohio physicians listed are Ohio State faculty.

14 of the nation's top 4,000 doctors are located at The Ohio State University Medical Center according to a recently released book, "America's Top Doctors."

Over the last five years, the amount of sponsored research at OSU has increased 80 percent. In 2004, it reached $426 million annually, which ranks 17th in the nation among public universities and 32nd among all universities.

U.S. News & World Report rankings of America's Best College continues to rank Ohio State among the nation's top 25 public institutions, and the only public university in Ohio on that list.

U.S. News ranks Ohio State's Medical School among the top 50 research schools. OSU College of Medicine and Public Health ranked 44th.

The OSU Medical Center has been named one of the top 100 health care networks in the country for its use of communications technology to better serve patients, medical staff and external business associates. Ohio State was the only Ohio hospital system to make the 2003 "Most Wired" list, which was compiled by Hospitals & Health Networks. For the second consecutive year, The American Hospital Association presented its "Innovator Award" to Ohio State for its groundbreaking use of information technologies in patient care.
