11/2012- Congratulations to Dr. Haiming Ding and team whose poster won 2nd place in the "Laboratory Investigations" category at the National American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Meeting! The poster was titled "Mucosal Cheek Pouch Tattoos Allow Repeat Assessment of Experimentally Induced Oral Tumor Development in Syrian Hamsters" and authored by M. Leber, D. Coble, H. Ding, and S. Lewis.
11/2012- Congratulations to Dr. Mike Tweedle who received an award from the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) for his proposal "Bringing the Cancer Detection Kit Home"!
7/2012- Congratulations to Dr. Michael Knopp and team who were awarded on Ohio Third Frontier Innovation Platform Program grant on PET/MRI! In collaboration with Philips Healthcare and Cardinal Health, $3 million was awarded for its PET/MRI, a Next Generation Multi-Modal Molecular Imaging Technology Platform project. The project focuses on the development of new radiopharmaceuticals and imaging technology to improve detection and diagnosis of disease in cancer, neurology, and cardiovascular patients.
7/2012- Congratulations to Dr. Petra Schmalbrock who was recognized for her distinguished service as a reviewer for the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging!
6/2012- Congratulations to Grant Yang, a junior in eletrical engineering, for being named the 2012 Gold Water Scholar by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarshipand Excellence in Educational Program. The Goldwater is the most prestigious national award for undergraduate researchers in science, math and engineering. Yang is conducting research with Dr. Bradley Clymer, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Dr. Petra Schmalbrock at OSU's Wright Center of Innovation in Biomedical Imaging. His research explores the use of signal processing to expand the utility of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in multiple sclerosis studies. An honors student and accomplished pianist, Yang plans to pursue a PhD in electrical engineering and develop novel medical imaging techniques as a professor at a research institution.
Yang is one of only four Ohio State students to be recognized by Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program. Since the award's inception in 1986, Ohio State has produced 44 Goldwater Scholars. This is the second year in a row that an ECE student has recieved a Goldwater Scholarship.
5/2012- Congratulations to Dr. Michael Knopp on his election to Chair-Elect to the ISMRM MR in Drug Research Study Group and Program Director-Elect of the MR Safety Study Group!
4/2012- Congratulations to Andrew Campbell, a 2011 Medical Student Research Scholarship Awardee, who recieved a travel award at the 11th Annual OSUWMC Trainee Research Day for his research on "Preoperative MRI underestimates articular cartilage defect size compared to arthroscopy"!
2/2012 - Congratulations to Dr. Michael Knopp and team for winning the Innovation in Non-Profit Service Delivery award at the 2011 TechColumbus Innovation Awards! They were also one the two finalists for Outstanding Technology Team.
